How It Works

Exercise isn’t exercise when it’s fun…

The benefits of exercising after treatment for breast cancer are way more than fitness – improved mobility, better posture, more energy and often boosted confidence.

In the Pink provides a safe, caring environment where every woman trusts that the teachers will guide them back onto the road of physical fitness – even those who didn’t like exercise before!

And as every In the Pink runs with a maximum of 10 participants, the teachers really get to know those who take part – and where they can help with an individual's physical recovery.

It’s more than an exercise class, and that’s why it is called a programme.  Every element of the course has been developed – by research, training or by the providers own experience – to contribute to an improvement in wellness.

Its Pilates-based, gentle exercises are proven to improve muscle strength across the back and shoulders, areas often affected by treatment, as well as building core strength which improves posture.

Every programme is different, but may also include tai chi, Nordic walking, African drumming – and even belly dancing – presented by experienced and inspiring guest teachers.

Exercise isn’t hard work when it’s fun, which is why these activities are key tothe programmes content – they’re not just great for physical fitness but bring laughter and new confidence back into the lives of survivors.

And while the programme concentrates on physical activity, it’s often the unseen benefits to people’s mental health that are most life-changing, which is why some programme’s include mindfulness and meditation.

Breast cancer changes the shape of women’s bodies. With help and support, it doesn’t have to shape their lives.
